Timberwolves Defeat Nuggets 115-70
Edwards Leads Minnesota to Victory
Third-Straight Playoffs Loss for Denver
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Anthony Edwards scored 27 points to pull the Minnesota Timberwolves out of their mid-series slump and deliver a crushing 115-70 defeat to the Denver Nuggets on Thursday night in Minneapolis.
The Timberwolves were coming off two consecutive losses in Denver and looked set to fall behind 3-0 in the series but instead emerged from the contest with a narrow 2-1 deficit.
Edwards was the catalyst for Minnesota's victory, shooting an efficient 10-of-14 from the field and 3-of-6 from three-point range. He also added nine rebounds and six assists for a well-rounded performance.
Karl-Anthony Towns added 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Timberwolves, while D'Angelo Russell contributed 16 points and six assists. The Timberwolves bench also played a significant role, with Jaden McDaniels and Naz Reid combining for 21 points.
The Nuggets were led by Nikola Jokic, who had 18 points and 15 rebounds, but the reigning MVP was unable to match Edwards' impact on the game. Jamal Murray added 13 points and Aaron Gordon chipped in with 12 for Denver.
The Timberwolves' defense was impressive throughout the game, holding the Nuggets to just 34.5% shooting from the field and 25% from three-point range. The Nuggets also committed 18 turnovers, which led to 20 points for Minnesota.
The victory was a much-needed one for the Timberwolves, who had been struggling to find their footing in the series. They will now head back to Denver for Game 4 on Saturday, where they will look to tie the series and force a return to Minneapolis.
