Delta COO Mike Spanos Leaving After One Year
COO to Departure Next Month
Delta Air Lines Chief Operating Officer Mike Spanos is leaving to take a job at another company, according to a company memo sent by CEO Ed Bastian.
Spanos' departure comes just over a month after Delta suffered an operational meltdown that canceled thousands of flights.
Bastian said in the memo that Spanos will leave next month.
Spanos' Departure Follows Operational Meltdown
Spanos' departure follows a difficult year for Delta, which has been plagued by operational problems.
In December, the airline canceled thousands of flights due to a winter storm, stranding passengers and causing widespread disruption.
The airline has also faced criticism for its handling of customer service issues, including long wait times and lost luggage.
Bastian Thanks Spanos for His Service
In the memo, Bastian thanked Spanos for his service to Delta.
He said that Spanos had made "significant contributions" to the airline during his time there.
Bastian also said that Delta is "committed to continuing to improve our operational performance and providing our customers with the best possible experience."
