Bharti Global said it had no plans to make an offer for the entire company.
“We are very excited about this investment in BT,” said Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman of Bharti Enterprises. “BT is a world-class telecommunications company with a strong track record of innovation and customer service. We believe that our investment will help BT to continue to grow and succeed in the years to come.”
The deal is subject to regulatory approvals.
BT is the largest telecommunications company in the United Kingdom. It provides voice, data, and mobile services to residential and business customers.
Bharti Enterprises is an Indian conglomerate with interests in telecommunications, real estate, and other sectors.
Conclusion
The acquisition of a 24.5% stake in BT by Bharti Enterprises is a significant development for both companies. It will give Bharti Global a foothold in the UK telecommunications market, while BT will benefit from Bharti’s expertise in emerging markets. The deal is also a sign of the growing interest in the UK telecommunications market from Indian companies.
